Today, and everyday, I am grateful for the work done by the music teacher in my elementary school. The students learn so much from her, but also have fun doing it. She creates opportunities for the students to explore different aspects of music and gives them the encouragement needed to perform in front of others.
Over thirty years ago, she was MY elementary music teacher. I still remember the way I felt when I was in her classroom. She had a guitar and played while we sang. The songs were fun and upbeat and silly and meaningful. She made me feel like I was special.
After decades of teaching junior and senior high chorus and show choirs, she became the elementary music teacher in my building. It is so wonderful to watch her work her magic with another generation of children.
I am grateful for the work she did for me, and the work she does today for the children in my building.
